In my (admittedly biased) opinion this is the absolutely best ‘All black Navitimer ref 806’ that I have ever seen
CASE & BACK: This watch is absolutely MINT . And appears to have never been worn. This watch measures a large 41.5 x 47mm not including crown and is 14mm to the top of the flush fit crystal. The heavy all-steel case does not appear to have ever been polished and still shows its original bevels and contrast satin-polished finish Like new ! . There are almost no superficial scratches and /or nicks that normally commensurate with a very lightly worn 52-year-old tool watch — Extremely good and Fantastic vintage condition overall. The outer part of the snap steel back has one superficial scratch were someone opened the case and shows its original Breitling nomenclature of the period including the 968432 serial number on the inside, which indicates a 1963 production, and correct 806 reference– also Extremely good and original cosmetic condition. The inner caseback shows no corrosion and has the correct internal Breitling engraving of the era.
BEZEL: The Beaded Stainless steel rotating bezel is correct and original and in mint condition The bezel itself rotates with good tension in both directions as designed.
DIAL & HANDS: Absolutely Mint matte black dial with white printing and finely calibrated track and no imperfections visible under a loupe , All original ‘very light coffe cream’ colored Tritium luminous numbers as if it was manufactured a few months ago
CROWN & PUSHERS: Signed Breitling crown looks like and winds and pulls out to the time-setting position as it should. It sits tightly against the case. The two pusher caps are likewise in fantastic shape and both chrono pushers work as they should and also nice and crisply.
CRYSTAL: Large flush-fit acrylic crystal is Excellent+ without scratches and no deep marks and sits barely proud of the bezel, which I i know is correct for this model and has never been replaced
MOVEMENT: Legendary Venus 178 chronograph movement is looking bright , untouched and working well with all correct Breitling nomenclature of the era and shock protection. Watch has most likely never been serviced as I did not want to risk damage or loss. consequently I have not worn this watch as I did not want to risk wear on the gear trains due to lack of lubrication. all chronograph functions are working properly and returning to zero. This is guaranteed to be the case at the time of shipment.
BOX, PAPERS , STRAP: This watch comes with the original yellow box and papers which are stamped with ‘Friebe Luftfahrt-bedarf’ http://www.friebe.aero/ a company that has been selling Avionics since 1951 and that exists still today . This watch even has the original 1960ies leather ‘Breitling’ strap
